The Benefits of a Lawn Tractor

The riding lawnmower is more accurately referred to as a lawn tractor, and it's a truly useful item for tending your lawn and property. According to Grand View Research, the global market for lawnmowers and lawn tractors in 2022 topped $31 billion. A market that large has lots of options for tending to your property. Here are seven terrific benefits of buying a lawn tractor.

1. More Comfortable Platform

You have to walk behind and either push or guide a lawnmower's direction by turning the entire unit, especially if it's a self-propelled mower. That's a lot of energy and exertion for mowing in the hot summer sun. A lawn tractor gives you a comfortable seat and a traditional steering wheel that you can use to drive the tractor to where you need it to go. You get better lines than you would with walking behind a mower and you exert much less energy. You could also mount an umbrella overhead to give you some shade while riding your tractor.

2. Adjustable and More Precise Cutting

A mower has a fixed blade, requiring you to shut off the mower and physically adjust the blade height to where you think you need it for a particular section of your lawn. A lawn tractor only requires you to move a lever or two until the cutting deck is where you want it to be. You can instantly recognize when you have the correct height for getting the grass mowed at the most optimal level.

3. Longer Cutting Range

A tractor product can hold about four gallons of gasoline versus about two gallons for a riding lawn mower, and a push mower holds even less. The bigger fuel tank gives you a lot more range with your tractor, which makes cutting a lot faster. You can tackle a big lawn with lots of grass more quickly and with less effort than would be required with a riding lawn mower or a push mower.

4. No Clumsy Cables or Cords

Virtually all lawnmowers that are powered by gasoline have a pull cord that you yank to get it to turn over. If the mower does not start on the first pull, you have to repeat the process until it does start. You also might accidentally flood the motor and have to wait for it to settle the fuel level before it will start. Some mowers are also electric, requiring a cord and likely extension cords for models that do not run on battery. A lawn tractor has a traditional ignition system that just requires you to insert the key and turn it on, although you might have to use the choke until it warms up.

5. More Durable Than Mowers

A riding mower or a push mower is a relatively light piece of equipment compared to a tractor model. The mower mostly has one purpose, which is to cut the grass. If that grass is too long, the mower might struggle to cut it with a single pass. A tractor is bigger, sturdier, and more powerful than most riding mowers and can take care of brush, overgrown weeds, and neglected lawns alike with no problems.

6. Adaptability

Possibly the best thing about a lawn tractor is that you can modify it to perfectly suit your needs. You can attach a mowing deck, a bag to the rear to catch the clippings, or even a mulch attachment that chops the cut grass blades into tiny bits that feeds the law. You even can mount a hitch and tow things with this product.

7. Wider Cutting Deck

A walk-behind lawn mower usually has a cutting blade that is maybe two feet wide. Unless you are cutting a small lawn, that is a very narrow cutting diameter and will require many more passes than a lawn tractor would need. With this product, you can choose how wide of a cutting deck you want so that you can mow your lawn in fewer passes and in much less time than you would with a push or riding mower.
